The Gem, Jewelry, and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand (GJPCT) and the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) hosted the “Thailand - Sri Lanka Colorstone Night | FACETS” on August 26, 2025. The event served as a pivotal platform for entrepreneurs in the gem and jewelry industries of both Thailand and Sri Lanka to network and promote trade opportunities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Somchai Pornchindarak, President of GJPCT, who emphasized the event's objective to strengthen relations and foster a more robust colored gemstone trade between the two nations.
To further enhance trade opportunities, Mr. Armil Sammoon, Chairman of FACETS Sri Lanka, attended the event and spoke of the historical gem trade ties between the two nations. He announced that Sri Lanka is entering a "new era" of business opportunities and extended an invitation to Thai entrepreneurs to attend FACETS 2026 in Colombo in January. He noted that Thailand is a ‘First Mover’ in pioneering this collaboration to jointly shape a sustainable and transparent future for the gem trade.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled “The Challenge of Colorstone,” where industry leaders shared their vision on growth opportunities and challenges within the regional colored gemstone market. The distinguished panelists included:
Mr. Chompol Pornchindarak - President, Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA)
Mr. Armil Sammoon - Chairman, FACETS Sri Lanka
Mr. Hemant Kumar Jain - Vice President, TGJTA
Mr. Mohamed Feroze Mohamed Zakariya - Vice President, TGJTA
Mr. Atul Kumal Jayantilal Jogani - Vice President, TGJTA
The panel also discussed “Gemports: Colored Gemstone Report,” a crucial tool designed to help consumers understand the true value of colored gemstones, thereby promoting transparency, trust, and sustainable growth in the market.
Reflecting a strong commitment to industry security, a special lecture on “Consignment: Protect your business with Criminal Law” was presented. The session was led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Thitiwat Pornsiriwat, Deputy Superintendent of the Investigation Division, Yannawa Metropolitan Police Station. He provided legal knowledge and protective measures for entrepreneurs concerning the “Asset Consignment for Sale” agreement—a powerful legal tool developed through the collaboration of GJPCT, TGJTA, and the Yannawa Police.
On this occasion, the associations presented a plaque of appreciation to the Yannawa Metropolitan Police Station to express gratitude for their legal cooperation and support for the advancement of the Thai gem and jewelry industry.
The “Thailand - Sri Lanka Colorstone Night | FACETS” event clearly reflects a partnership that not only connects trade but also delivers market innovation insights and reinforces legal protections for its members. It lays a solid foundation for building a stable and sustainable industry for the future.
