The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) recently welcomed a delegation from the Guangdong Fashion Jewelry & Accessories Association (GFJAA), led by Mr. Pan Xuping, President of GFJAA, together with members who are entrepreneurs in the gems and jewelry industry from China.
The visit was honored by Mr. Chomphol Phornchindarak, President of TGJTA, along with Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, President of the Gems, Jewelry, and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand, Mr. Sutthichai Chuenchomladda, Vice President of TGJTA, Mr. Mohamed Feroze Mohamed Zakariya, Vice President of TGJTA, Mr. Christian Stenzhorn, and Ms. Wilasinee Noknuam, Secretary-General of TGJTA, as well as members of the Association’s Executive Committee.
During the visit, the two associations engaged in fruitful discussions and information exchange on the gems and jewelry industries of both countries, aiming to create opportunities for expanding business in Thailand. TGJTA also provided the Chinese delegation with information on import tax privileges under the Duty-Free scheme, as well as the 0% VAT benefit available to TGJTA members—a key advantage that enhances Thailand’s competitiveness in the global jewelry market.
On this occasion, TGJTA and GFJAA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Development of the Gems and Jewelry Industry between the Kingdom of Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. The MOU aims to:
Promote trade and investment in the gem and jewelry sectors.
Develop workforce skills and capabilities to meet industry needs.
Strengthen the exchange of market trends, trade practices, and regulatory information.

This MOU represents a significant milestone in strengthening Thailand–China cooperation. It underscores the shared commitment of both associations to elevate the gems and jewelry industry to the international stage, respond to global market dynamics, and enhance competitiveness for businesses in both nations.
