
Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association welcomed Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, M.P., Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, for discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation in advancing the gem and jewelry industry.
On this occasion, Mr. Chomphol Phornchindarak, President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, together with Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, President of the The Gems, Jewelry and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand, and members of the Association’s Board of Directors, warmly received the Minister and his delegation. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives, with emphasis placed on elevating industry standards, strengthening global market confidence, and expanding international trade networks.
The Association underscored its commitment to promoting transparency in the colored gemstone trade through the development of Gemports — an international standard reference reporting and price index platform designed to enhance credibility and build trust among traders, investors, and consumers in the global gemstone market.
In addition, the Association highlighted the importance of supporting emerging jewelry designers, encouraging the next generation to enter the industry and create added value through creativity. This effort is carried out alongside the development of professional knowledge and industry standards, forming a strong foundation for the sustainable growth of Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry on the global stage.
