A Golden Opportunity for Thai Gem and Jewelry Entrepreneurs: An In-depth Look at the OSMEP “BDS: SME Pang, Tung Dai Kuen” Program

In an era of intensifying business competition, enhancing the capabilities and competitiveness of entrepreneurs, especially Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), is a key driver of the nation's economy. The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association recognizes this importance and is pleased to introduce the "Promoting Entrepreneurs via BDS (Business Development Service)" program, also known as “SME Pang, Tung Dai Kuen” (SMEs Thrive, Get Cash Back), by the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP). This program is a vital tool designed to elevate your gem and jewelry business for sustainable growth.

What is BDS? A Gateway to Opportunity for Entrepreneurs

The BDS program is an online platform developed by OSMEP to serve as a central hub for business development services from qualified and standardized Service Providers from both the public and private sectors across the country. It allows SME entrepreneurs to freely "shop for" services that meet their specific business needs.

The core of this program is financial support through a co-payment model, where OSMEP subsidizes up to 50-80% of the service cost, with a maximum limit of 200,000 Baht per entrepreneur. This helps reduce the financial burden and encourages entrepreneurs to invest in developing various aspects of their business.

For entrepreneurs in the gem and jewelry industry, the BDS program is a golden opportunity to access services that can precisely elevate their business, such as:

  • Product Quality and Standards Development: Submitting products for analysis to obtain certifications necessary for building credibility, both domestically and internationally.

  • Market Channel Development: Participating in domestic and international trade fairs, online marketing through reputable platforms, or business matching negotiations.

  • Efficiency and Productivity Enhancement: Adopting technology or innovation in design and production, and improving work processes to reduce costs.

  • Business Development and Management: In-depth training to develop essential business skills such as strategic planning, financial management, or digital marketing.

Steps to Participate in the BDS Program and the Benefits

Participating in the BDS program is convenient, fast, and easily accessible online, ensuring entrepreneurs do not miss out on opportunities for business development.

Steps to Participate:

  1. Register and Verify Identity: Entrepreneurs can register at the website bds.sme.go.th. Prepare necessary documents, which differ for individuals and juristic persons (e.g., copy of ID card, company certificate, tax documents (Phor.Ngor.Dor.)).

  2. Await Approval: After submitting all documents, an officer will review them and notify you of the approval status via SMS or email.

  3. Select Services and Submit a Proposal: Once approved, entrepreneurs can log in to select desired services from OSMEP-registered providers and prepare a project proposal to request support.

  4. Receive Service and Reimbursement: After the proposal is approved, entrepreneurs can receive the service immediately, paying the full cost upfront. Then, submit the proof of payment to OSMEP for reimbursement according to the approved subsidy ratio.

Benefits for Entrepreneurs:

  • Reduced Financial Burden: Receive a 50-80% subsidy on service costs, making it easier to decide to invest in business development.

  • Targeted Service Selection: Ability to choose services that truly align with your business needs and growth direction.

  • Access to Qualified Service Providers: All providers on the BDS platform have been vetted and registered with OSMEP, ensuring quality and standards.

  • Increased Competitiveness: Development in various areas will create a competitive advantage, enhance brand recognition, and expand business opportunities into new markets.

The Association invites all member entrepreneurs not to miss this excellent opportunity to elevate your business. Investing in your capabilities today is the solid foundation for tomorrow's success. You can find more information and apply for the program directly on the OSMEP website.
