TGJTA Welcomes GJEPC Delegation from India to Strengthen Trade Ties and Expand Gem and Jewelry Market Opportunities

On February 21, 2025, the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) hosted a delegation from the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India to strengthen collaboration and explore strategies for expanding the gem and jewelry trade between the two nations.

The discussions focused on trade and investment opportunities in the gem and jewelry industry, particularly enhancing participation for Thai businesses in India’s leading trade fairs to expand market access and foster business networking. Additionally, both parties explored avenues for collaboration on Gemports: Colored Gemstone Price Index (GPI), a globally recognized gemstone price reference standard aimed at increasing transparency and consumer confidence in the industry.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Chomphol Phornchindarak, President of TGJTA, Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, Chairman of the Gems, Jewelry, and Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand, Mr.Atul Jogani Vice President of TGJTA and Ms. Vilasinee Noknuam, Secretary-General of TGJTA, along with TGJTA board members and association members who actively participated in the discussions.

India and Thailand share a long-standing and robust partnership in the gem and jewelry trade. India is the world’s largest gemstone cutting and polishing hub, while Thailand remains a key trading center for colored gemstones and jewelry in the region. Strengthening this collaboration marks a significant step in driving the growth of the gem and jewelry industry in both countries and enhancing global market confidence.
